Comparatives and Superlatives

İki şeyi karşılaştırmak için karşılaştırma derecesi (comparative), bir şeyi bir gruptaki diğer her şeyle karşılaştırmak için üstünlük derecesi (superlative) kullanılır. Kısa sıfatlar -er ve -est, uzun sıfatlar ise more ve most alır.

Nasıl Kurulur?

Kural, sıfatın uzunluğuna ve nasıl bittiğine göre değişir.

Düzensiz Biçimler

Çok sık kullanılan birkaç sözcüğün kendine özgü biçimleri vardır. Bunları ezberleyin.

Than Kullanımı

İkinci şeyi tanıtmak için karşılaştırma biçiminden sonra than (-den) kullanın. Farkın ne kadar büyük olduğunu göstermek için karşılaştırma biçiminden önce much, a lot (çok daha) ya da a bit (biraz daha) kullanın.

Üstünlük derecesinin önünde normalde the bulunur. Yerler ve gruplarla in, belli sayıda şeyle ya da bir zaman dilimiyle of kullanılır.

Everest is the highest mountain in the world.Everest dünyanın en yüksek dağıdır.

She's the youngest of the three sisters.Üç kız kardeşin en küçüğü o.

As ... As ve Not As ... As

İki şeyin eşit olduğunu söylemek için as + sıfat + as (kadar) kullanın. Birincinin daha az olduğunu söylemek için not as ... as kullanın. Sıfat yalın hâlinde kalır.
