英語の比較級と最上級
Comparatives and Superlatives
クイズで理解度をチェック2つのものを比べるときは比較級を、あるグループの中の1つを他のすべてと比べるときは最上級を使います。短い形容詞には-er と -est、長い形容詞には more と mostを使います。
作り方
規則は形容詞の長さと語尾によって決まります。

ごくよく使われるいくつかの語は、独自の形を持っています。丸暗記しましょう。

than の使い方
比較級の後に than を置いて、比べる相手を示します。差の大きさを示すには、比較級の前に much、a lot、a bit を置きます。
My brother is taller than me.兄は私より背が高いです。
Trains are much faster than buses.電車はバスよりずっと速いです。
This one is a bit cheaper than that one.こちらはあちらより少し安いです。

the + 最上級の使い方
最上級の前には普通 the を付けます。場所や集団には in を、いくつかのものや期間には of を使います。
Everest is the highest mountain in the world.エベレストは世界で一番高い山です。
She's the youngest of the three sisters.彼女は3姉妹の中で一番年下です。
This is the best film I've ever seen.これは今まで見た中で最高の映画です。最上級の後には ever を伴う現在完了がよく使われます。
as ... as と not as ... as
2つのものが同じ程度であることを言うには as + 形容詞 + as を使います。前のものの程度が低いことを言うには not as ... as を使います。形容詞は原級のままです。

よくある間違い
more と -er を一緒に使ってはいけません。また、語尾の綴りを必ず確認しましょう。
