In inglese, per descrivere azioni completate nel passato, si usa il tempo Past Simple.

Quando si usa il Past Simple?

Il Past Simple descrive azioni che si sono svolte e concluse in un momento specifico del passato.

Verbi regolari

Molti verbi inglesi aggiungono il suffisso -ed al passato.

  • Si aggiunge -ed alla maggior parte dei verbi
  • Ai verbi che terminano in 'e' muta si aggiunge solo -d
  • Nei verbi che terminano in consonante + 'y', la 'y' diventa 'ied'

Frasi negative

Per rendere il Past Simple negativo, si usa 'did not' e il verbo torna alla forma base.

Le domande nel Past Simple si formano con l'ausiliare 'did'.

Punti da controllare quando si usa il Past Simple:

  • L'azione è avvenuta nel passato?
  • È stata usata la seconda forma del verbo?
  • È stato usato 'did' nelle negative e interrogative?
  • L'espressione temporale indica il passato?
